April 01, 2020
During my girl's spring break 2020, just before the pandemic of Covid19 began we had plans to build me a separate space in the back yard for my metalsmithing. I have been creating and designing personalized vintage maps and photo jewelry since 2007, but I felt the need to change things up. I also truly desired to be a metalsmith and create items from scratch. A beautiful good friend who is a very accomplished metalsmith offered to teach me to make my very first ring. I loved every bit of the process. I could feel it in my soul, it was my passion. That was October 2019 and now almost a year later, I have come a long way. Metalsmithing is a true work of love. There are many hours, sweat (especially here in Florida lol) and so many mistakes along the way, but that is all part of the process and while extremely frustrating at times, I know this is where I am meant to be. It is teaching me patience and to work organically with the silver, let it be what it wants to be. Many many deep breaths. I look forward to sharing with you all of my future creations. Drop me a comment and let me know what you would like to see. As always thank you to all of you for helping to make my little dream a reality.
